


Camerons extend their links with the local community by their sponsorship of charitable events including the Durrell Dash. A Camerons team enters the annual Dragon Boat Race. Individual management and staff undertake sponsore walks, running events and even abseiling to raise funds for local charities. Camerons establish relationships with local schools and with Highlands College to encourage interest in the Construction Industry as a career for local youngsters. Camerons also participate in the Undergraduate Internship Scheme run by Jersey Enterprise.
Hautlieu School Pupils Visit Hospice Site June 2011
Camerons Managing Director, Marc Burton and Site Project Manager Rob Hearne were pleased to be able to take a group of pupils and their teachers on a guided tour of the Hospice construction site in June 2011 The visit was arranged to allow the young people to learn about the Construction Industry by visiting a working construction site. Camerons have been working in co-operation with Hautlieu School to encourage youngsters to consider a career in construction.
Runners add a dash of cash for Durrell 17th October 2011
Now in its third year the Durrell Dash, sponsored by Camerons, has gained such momentum that Durrell have added a variety of fun runs for Children. Adults keen to do their bit for conservation, can compete in a scenic 13 kilometre race in and around the wildlife park, and youngsters have a choice of 1k, 2k or 3k fun runs.
On Sunday 17th October 2010, over 200 runners took part in the 2010 Durrell Dash, stretching over 13km of beautiful countryside surrounding the wildlife park. Once again, Daniel Hawksworth sprinted across the line in 45 mins 39 seconds claiming 1st place in the men’s category with Jo Garrod leading the women’s group with a superb time of 49 mins 32 seconds.
As well as sponsoring the event, Camerons also sent few members of its team to the Durrell Dash, and they did not disappoint and did everybody at Camerons proud. Peter Le Couilliard led the way in coming 9th in only 51.09 mn, followed by Monika Markowska in 65.02, Philip Lane and Marc Burton.
Building Council answers SOS for Good Companions Sept 2010
The Good Companions Club received a free makeover as part of Construction Week.
In the style of BBC television series DIY SOS, members of the Jersey Construction Council arrived at the Good Companions Club last Monday and left on Friday, having refurbished the cloakrooms and the outside of the building.
Camerons Managing Director Marc Burton, who was in charge of the project, said: “We have been refurbishing two cloakrooms and the exterior of the main entrance. We put in new gutters, new flooring, tiling and new cupboards. We have made improvements and created extra storage.”
Stephen Ross-Gower, member of the Good Companions Club management committee, said: “It is brilliant. We have to be cautious with what we spend our money on and when their offer came through we thought it was absolutely brilliant. The finished product looks superb and we would like to thank everyone for their help.”
