SPIE Batignolles Camerons has won a Gold Award for achieving high standards of health and safety management on the new Energy from Waste facility at La Collette.

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) award scheme recognises company policies to reduce the number of accidents at work and encourages organisations to develop robust health and safety management systems.
‘Spie Batignolles Camerons as developer of new Energy from Waste facility in Jersey has shown a commitment to protecting the health and well-being of its employees and others. Organisations which do this deserve to have such dedication recognised and that’s where RosPA Awards come in,’ said RoSPA’s award manager David Rawlins.
‘RoSPA is delighted to publicly honour organisations which have demonstrated their work to improve performance in this sphere.’
The national awards have been running since 1956 and are is based on assessment of a broad portfolio of evidence about the level of development and performance of an entrant’s occupational health and safety management system, and also takes into account the entrant’s reportable accident rate and enforcement experience.
‘To win a RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety gold award is an excellent achievement for the company and shows that we operate to the highest possible standards. The health and safety of all our staff and contractors is of paramount importance,’ said Martin Holmes, Chief Executive of Camerons.

This is the second national award for the Energy from Waste project after Camerons Ltd, in association with Spie Batignolles was recognised by Considerate Constructors Scheme 2010 National Site Awards, which was the first time a Jersey company had been given the award.

‘We invest significantly in ensuring that all of our sites exceed recognised industry standards but it is always extremely satisfying to have this investment recognised by independent national bodies. It is a testament to the hard work of all our teams to receive these awards,’ said Andy Hall, Garenne Group’s Chief Executive Officer.
