Camerons triumph at JECC
Camerons were named overall winners at this year's Jersey Construction Awards. The company won the Project of the Year over £500,000 category for the Day Surgery unit at the Island's General Hospital.
Camerons Construction Director, Bob Matthews, attributed the win to a strong teamwork ethic: 'We had the best rapport we've ever seen on a project.'
This was probably Camerons most complex contract to date, with some 24 individual contractors fielding a peak workforce of over 100 men, dispersed throughout the hospital. With so many different priorities and contractual obligations, plus the demands of a busy medical facility, Camerons faced a considerable challenge. The team met daily to coordinate work and minimise disruption to patients and staff.
In his speech at the opening of the new building, Mike Le Feuvre, Director of Estate Management of Health and Social Services, praised the team for their attitude, enthusiasm and sheer hard work.
