Winning the Contractor of the Year Award confirmed Camerons' belief that implementing a strategic objective to become the 'contractor of choice' for clients in Jersey, was the right decision.
By focusing on delivering customer benefits, Camerons has innovated in order to deliver major projects in timeframes and to a quality of finish that would have previously seemed impossible.
At the same time, the building contractor has worked to improve communications with both customers, suppliers and employees, an approach that resulted in there being no reportable accidents during 2006. This understanding that successful projects are awlays the result of great teamwork has been crucial in building long-term client relationships and moving the company closer to achieving its strategic objective.
One particular project that clearly displays the combination of innovation and teamwork is the Radisson Waterfront Hotel which involved bringing pre- concrete, room technology and bathroom pods to Jersey for the first time ever. In all, 7,500 tonnes of concrete, mechanical and electrical installations, and bathroom pods were brought over from the UK, and Cameron's innovative approach to the project enabled substantial logistical issues to be overcome on time, and on budget. By working closely with all parties involved, the principal structure for 195 bedrooms was completed in only 15 weeks, a full year earlier than could have been achieved by traditional methods, and using a very small team of workers.
Camerons prides itself on being Jersey's most innovative building contractor and its success in 2006 has shown that it is clearly onthe right road to achieving this.
