British bobsleigh team Will Golder and Kevan Crowell were back on the ice track last week competing in race seven of the European Cup.
After the Christmas break the Jersey men travelled to Cesana in Italy, where the finished 24th from 26th to pick up 11 points in their first race of the New Year.
Driver, Golder, admitted: "We had hoped for better. Our push time was average and our downtime was 0.5 seconds fater than our previous visit so it shows we are still improving.
I am still finding that I am losing time going down the track. It is very frustrating but until we can discover the reason, we are trying our hardest."
Brakeman Crowell went into the race bruised and battered having suffered a crash on the second day of training while stepping in to help fellow GB driver Harry Pilcher, whose regular partner had broken his shoulder the previous day.
he described the experience: "Crashing is a funny thing. We can all laugh about it in the evening but for a few moments it is anything but funny. There is a lot of luck involved as the crash may knock you unconscious before you have the chance to do anything about it.
We crashed at exactly the same point that the previous brakeman had broken his shoulder but by an amount of awareness and a great dollop of luck, I did not.
The next few moments feel like hours when you are trying to gauge your position relative to the bob so that you may adjust, if possible, to bring yourself to a safer position.
All the same we were safe, I had a couple of bangs which I could have done without but head remained attached to shoulder so that was positive."
Reflecting on his race with Golder he added: " The crash left me in a tired and damaged state for the race but nevertheless we hit it hard. The start wasn't great and, while the bob is probably the heaviest on the circuit, we only started in the top 17 in 5.12 seconds which we both feel could have been better.
Will's drive was again very good, as it had been all week, and belied our downtime and overall position although we were still pleased to have completed another round and gained some good points."
The team, who is sponsored by Camerons Ltd, travels to St Moritz for the next race on Thursday.
