Work is now well under way on the building of 14 new retirement homes in the parish of Trinity.
The homes, which will join ten others in the Les Maisons Cabot retirement village, are on track to be completed within the next few months.
Parish Constable John Gallichan said that the original homes, which are located next to the Trinity Arms, were completed in 2002, but that it was decided that more were needed. Work began on building the extra homes in October.
"The work is progressing really well", he said. "The homes are due to be completed in early August and we will hopefully have tenants in them by the early autumn."
The 14 homes have cost the parish around £2.3 million and the parish will act as landlords, renting them out to elderly parishioners.
Mr Gallichan said that the people on the waiting list had been notified that the homes would be completed within a few months, but he said that nobody had been allocated yet.
"We are very pleased with the properties", added Mr Gallichan. "They are really lovely. They are nice and spacious and are looking really good.
Camerons have been the builders on this project and they have been on time and done the job well."
