Albert Pier Housing Project

Brief description:

Design and Build project featuring 153 units of 1 and 2 bedroom accommodation, which will be used as part first-time buyers and part social housing. In addition there are 3 retail units and a purpose built flat that can accommodate up to 7 people with special needs. 144 parking spaces have been located at basement level.

Significant challenges faced the site team during the construction of the works. These included the safe excavation and treatment of contaminated soils arising from the basement excavation, the in-situ reinforced concrete frame, and forming the complex roof designs that have come to dominate the Albert Pier skyline.

To assist the team during the construction phase, SBC erected two giant tower cranes and set-up a concrete batching plant on site, thereby ensuring that they had access to the required amount of in-situ concrete at all times, with no effect to the Island's existing suppliers capacities.

Camerons staff involved with the project have all gained invaluable large-scale project management experience in key areas of design and build projects. In addition, they have seen the benefits of purchasing within the European resource markets, further enhancing their appeal to potential clients throughout the Island.
